Sales of Self Published Patterns
Would You Like us to sell your Designs as Downloads?
Can I sell my patterns through Karp Styles?
If you are the copyright holder and have not given exclusive rights to your pattern to another business, then we can sell your patterns. We can list designs from self-publishers or large companies. Your pattern and photos need to look professional and we reserve the right to reject any pattern that does not meet the standards.
How to have your pattern listed.
If you have not yet published your pattern (as PDF, Word or printed format), the first step is to write a detailed pattern. Not everybody is an accomplished knitter or crocheter so think of the beginner too. Try to have somebody other than yourself test read and test knit or crochet the design. Take some good clear photographs of your design. Now make a Word doc or PDF of your pattern. Make sure you list all the materials required, abbreviations and sizing. We will also require separate photographs for the website. These should be in JPG format. The more professional they are, the better. Photographs help sell the pattern.
Once you have the pattern and photographs ready, make a list of the following to send to us.
- Retail Price - please state which currency (US$, CAN$, GBP, AUS $ etc) and we will convert it
- Your description of the pattern for the website(or we can do this for you)
- You full name or business name and mailing address
- Your Paypal email address - for us to pay you.
- If you give us sole Web rights to sell your pattern (you will get a higher royalty rate if you do - see below.)
Send the PDF or Word doc along with the photographs and above information to us at ksupdatesATkarpstylesDOTcom - replace the words AT and DOT with the normal email symbols.
How are you Paid?
You will be paid 50% of the retail price. If you have given us Exclusive Internet Rights to sell your pattern, you will receive 65% of the retail price. Exclusive Internet Rights patterns cannot being sold as a download anywhere else on the Web. It has to be an exlusive to us. Payment is normally made once per month to the Paypal account you have on file with us. We will also let you know how many of which pattern were sold. Payment is paid as Royalties which means that we are not legally obliged to deduct tax before payment is made to you. It is your duty to report any income yourself.
